Deam Bike: Pinarello F4:13

Looks like this will have to be put on hold for a while. But with such aesthetics and named after a verse from the Bible: I have strength for all things through Him who gives me power. Its hard not to like it.

A changed man

Did I mentioned that I bought an apartment as well. Unfortunately, with my wages and lack of job security in Singapore I would never have even contemplated it. But also perhaps I was pretty happy staying home with family and a maid 24/7 that there was probably never the need. Well, I cant say that I was entirely able to do it back here in Aus either cos I CANT. Couldnt have done it without mum and dad helping out with the downpayment.

After I moved a sense of cleanliness seem to have taken over (which is not me I must add). The anti-bacterial spray and glove are like my best friends after dinner and on the weekends. I clean the marble benchtops when the reflections from the florescent lamp appear 'smudged'. I look more at Home magazines. Dropping by Bunnings and Freedom are like my weekend routine. Maybe its the sense of ownership or just protecting my 'investment' but its good know that I am paying off my own mortgage rather than someone else's loan.

But I guess some things dun change much. Still as untidy in my room. By the way, everything you see in the pictures DO NOT belong to me. Even the mattress I sleep on belongs to my housemate. Property: Yes (the 4 walls). Furniture: Zero

Why did I leave Singapore?

Lets see... where shall I start? It was never a once off decision. Since returning to Singapore to work 2 years ago, I constantly asked myself that question. I never believed in the theory that grass is always greener on the other side. If you want it to be greener, you just water it. There's always the pros and cons with any move and the longer I stayed, the more I realised that there were aspects of life which I valued more at this stage in my life that I could not get in Singapore.
I finish work at 4.21pm legally and bosses seem really appreciative when you stay till 5pm. There's a much better work life balance and lastly I get PAID more as well.

Frankly, I was always happy and passionate with my work in Singapore. Being one of 3 Sports Dietitians in Singapore, I saw National athletes and train with them when I can. Did most of my work with the Sailing Team which was perhaps the highlight.
P.S.first sailor on the right is Justin Wong. A person which bears the same name as my brother but the two couldnt be more dissimilar. If its about girls and breaking the rules, thats my sailor.

The only thing I miss about Singapore is my family. But with Tiger airways and returns from $400 from Darwin, I believe it can be an indulgence every so often for a tradeoff I am willing to take now.

My nephew.. How can you say no to this?

Tillandsias (Air Plant)

Tillandsia or air plants as they are known normally grow without soil. Moisture and nutrients are gathered from the air. They are often found in nature attached to other plants. Not parasitic, they only depend on them for support. All right, enough of that education spew, you can look it up on the net.
Got it from the local nursery for $5, platter from Target: $9, stones: Free (from the roadside).
Basically, its cheap, DIY and makes a good centrepiece. I only water it once a week or more if I remember. And for a person who is not too much of a green finger, this plant hasn't died on me after 3 weeks.
