Want vs Need

Want: Subura Forester or Mitsubishi Outlander

Need: Corolla or Honda City

Price: $30-32k (want) vs $21-23k (Need)

Engine: 2.4L vs 1.5-1.8L

Fuel/100km: 9-9.5L vs 6.5-7.5L

I probably only need the 'want' car 20% of the time, if folks visit or I'm going biking/camping.

The 'need' car would probably suffice for 80% of my time.

I'm a logical person but when I pose the Qs to my hsemate, the reply was:

" you only live once.."

If you can afford it, why not!

You are asking a girl???? Hello?? It's always "want" with us :):)

I would normally go with her answer of "you only live once" and "we work so hard"etcetc...but in days of global warming, I'm going to say that a Toorak Tractor is not the way to go nowadays. Imagine all the petrol you can save! :):)

Come to think of it, all the answers from the girls (including my work place) are all 'wants'.

The World could think of more ways to promote and build smaller cars! The Outlander is only sold in Singapore as a 2L standard but the base model here is 2.4L.
Frankly I think 2.4L is a fair amount of grunt for me but was surprised when I look at the Holden's range and the Ute's base model is 3.6L to 6L!!!! (Talk about tractors)
